sunflower in a vase- ballpoint pen |
In a long dry summer we finally got a good rain. The good news is the yard seemed to breath a sigh of relief and I was off water duty a few days. The bad news is that it took out half my sunflowers as I found them snapped in half face down in the lawn. I had been reluctant to cut them because I know the birds enjoy stripping the seeds from the center but alas I had flowers to save. So I nipped off the 8-10 feet of stock and popped a few into my monster vase. Being chair bound to the care of my patients, I am needing a break from the boredom so after more than 25 paintings of sunflowers in oil, I decided to try a sketch in the ball point pen book. Since my only yellow is a glitter pen, I have this strange little glisten about the drawing. I must admit, the thicker ink (probably because it has to carry the glitter) seems to go a lot faster then most the ball point pens I have been using for this book.
