With all the super bowl/ seahawk talk of "beast mode" (Marshawn Lynch the unstoppable rushing offense) it seemed approapriate to creat my own beast.
This a version of a drawing game, known as the exquisite corpse. It was executed among surrealist artists by taking a piece of paper, folding it a few times into equal 1/3rd of 1/4s of the paper and drawing consecutive body parts. The artist was expected to either start with the head or the foot and draw a portion of the body. After drawing their portion they would then conceal the drawn area and pass on the paper to the next person with only points where the drawn line stops. The 2nd participant then begins from those points and invents the next section previous developments unknown. This goes on and on until the three or four sections are complete thus creating an odd creature-head/torso arms/pelvis legs/feet.
Since I planned to attempt this solo, I did 4 creatures per page. I alternated doing heads on the outsides, feet on the inside one week then putting a week or so between revisits. That way I could forget what I had done where, to keep it a mystery even to myself. Here is an example of one of the creatures that surprisingly looks as if it was done sight seen; I must have had a bird brain that month.
