Often times I challenge myself by getting my sketch practice by whatever I can find on the spot. Most often it is a funky something to study the light or the juxtaposition of it's place/space in relation to that which surrounds the subject. In this instance I saw a fellow artist standing near the center of the room talking with her fellow group participants. By the time I got her sketched in the others had scurried back to their tables to work on their projects. Instead of leaving her in the mid of the page, all alone, I did quick little sketches of all the remaining people thus compositionally surrounding her in a more conceptual way.
