Week #2 The 5 min line sketch

Hole-gush-finger
As imagined the 5 min sketch allowed me "all the time in the world" to sketch after last weeks 2 minute exercises. Last week it was abbreviate, focus, direct the viewer and edit each line as it was being made. This week I found my strictness to have relaxed (although it shouldn't have) in favor to composition, using the full space and beginning to think about volume or light direction. I invested more emphasis on proportion and accuracy making myself pay closer attention to where things lined up and working on axis.
Also while working strictly from life most days, I did take one day to work from my imagination on random concepts.  I challenge myself with this exercise of word association where I dropped a dictionary open 3 times, blindly picking 3 words and built an associated image from it. Curious how it can lend to surrealism, what I have wanted to someday explore in my work.
