Challenge#15: The 100+ hour sketchbook of portraits- final drawing.

"Dan" 12x12 charcoal
I am an artist who enjoys "working in series" and many of my sketchbooks are themed either by medium, subject or both. This often makes for organized and easily referenced volumes to previous work which is great when you want to use sketches in future work. The disadvantages are that it takes much longer to complete a sketchbook and often you have 8-10 (or more) half used sketchbooks sitting around waiting to be used. So when I finish a sketchbook, especially a prominent one of long term dedication, it is like finishing a major project worth celebration. This particular sketchbook "Portraits: Sept 2011-April 2014", was just completed today with a drawing I was pleased to end with some success.
The book is a handmade artist's sketchbook which I customized the cover of the 12"x12" format. The pages consisting of 45 drawings done in strictly in charcoal. (The previous book, 12x16,  was all drawn in pencil 2x per page.) Like the previous project, all portraits were made only from life drawing sessions during (in most cases) just 90 minutes of the model posing. While my next collection of portraits may not be in a bound book format (I have found that these books are no longer available), I do plan to continue the series. The next set also formatted in 12x12 will be in the trois crayon method (conte').
