Week #52: Seasonal Sketches to Conclude 2013

It just seems wrong to have all these Christmas decorations and NOT use them somewhere in my regular sketchbook practice.
bubble light- graphite
P&L elf- ballpoint pen
Since this was the year of the bubble light (something new to decorating the tree) I thought it wise to better appreciate the investment. What better way to appreciate something then to invest some time in a drawing?
...then there was this guy. I call him "Prep and Landing" because he reminds me of an aviator elf. In this effort I am playing with opposing warm/cool ball point pens to trial color in my portraits. When I finish my present 12x12 charcoal bound book (12 pages away from completion) of portraits the plan is to try trois crayon. It is a medium I know little to nothing about and am not even sure if I'm studied enough to understand what the methodology is in formulating the colors. Furthermore
I have not found much written word on the subject but knew it would be a good launch into color from the last few years completing 2 books in value based mediums- graphite & charcoal.
