The carousel studies continue but a suppliment of "life" has been thrown into the mix as I have been fortunate enough to have been given access to a stables where I can observe my subject in motion. Four hours in the cold with graphite and sketch pad has me feeling a little more "in the know" of what it was those carvers were imitating. I can't recall but I read that one of the major carousel companies located his company close to a stables in order to get him and his employees close distance to thier subject... there is much to be learned from the real thing.
